INTERVIEW WITH FRANCISCO RODRÍGUEZ, GENERAL MANAGER OF NOVOGRAF TO INFOPACK MAGAZINE

“SISTRADE’s MIS|ERP fit perfectly into our digitalization strategy”
Artes Gráficas Novograf, a company belonging to the Vallsgraphic Group and specialized in solid board packaging and commercial printing, has taken a major step toward industrial modernization with the implementation of SISTRADE’s MES/MIS|ERP system. Founded in 1985, with 11,000 square meters of facilities in Puente Tocinos (Murcia), 120 employees, and a strong international presence—35% of its sales are exports—the company has integrated all its commercial, production, logistics, and quality control management into a single platform.
The project has enabled the digitalization of shop-floor monitoring, process automation, improved traceability, and optimized planning, strengthening the company’s resilience in an increasingly demanding sector. We spoke with Francisco Rodríguez, General Manager of Novograf, about this process.
INFOPACK: Where does Novograf stand today, and what are the main markets and business lines of the company?
FRANCISCO RODRIGUEZ: The company focuses its activity on the manufacture of folding cartons made of solid board and microflute, serving sectors such as cosmetics (40%), pharmaceuticals (30%), and food (20%). With investments of €3.5 million over the last three years, Novograf has driven a growth plan based on its core values: constant improvement to enhance even what already works well; innovation as a driving force to quickly adapt to market changes; and a strong commitment to quality, ensuring precise work from the first attempt and in line with each customer’s requirements. All of this is supported by close relationships based on active listening and simplicity in dealings, as well as a culture of trust reflected in the strict fulfillment of commitments. We want to continue increasing our specialization in value-added products. To achieve this, we keep investing and adapting to that market.
IP: Novograf has implemented SISTRADE Software’s integrated management system. How did you decide on this solution? Were you already familiar with SISTRADE?
FR:We had our own in-house management system, but we felt the need to move to a more modern and efficient one. We therefore analyzed several software companies and chose SISTRADE because it seemed to be the tool that best suited our needs. We were looking for a 100% web-based solution capable of connecting machinery, automating processes, and facilitating remote work. SISTRADE’s MIS|ERP, specifically designed for the packaging industry, fit perfectly into our digitalization strategy.
IP: What are the advantages of a system like SISTRADE’s in terms of cost reduction and automation?
FR : We have had the application implemented since 2018 and, together with SISTRADE, we have developed applications that have solved issues related to information management, traceability, and integration with production elements. As a result, today we have the entire company fully managed with fewer resources. The system allows real-time monitoring of work orders, integration of machine data, automated purchasing based on inventory levels, and centralized quality control and maintenance. The result is greater efficiency and responsiveness. We can say that we are satisfied and, yes, we would recommend it to other companies in the sector.
IP: In which areas of the company are you using the software?
FR : As it is a comprehensive application, we have implemented the software across all areas of the company—from estimating to production, including logistics and planning. All operations are now carried out within a single digital ecosystem. SISTRADE has been by our side in the development of new applications up to today, and I have no doubt that this will continue in the future. Collaboration between a technology provider and the user company is essential to anticipate needs in automation, traceability, quality control, and energy efficiency. [PDF Version]
